Metallica makes Historical Return Show in Jakarta

The ultimate name in the realm of rock and metal and one that shaped and defined metal music, the group band Metallica is about to make a historical return to Indonesia after their first appearance 20 long years ago, and the stage is set for their grand concert in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, on 25th August 2013.

“As August shapes up to be one of the most unique and special months in Metallica touring history, we are also super excited to be returning to Jakarta, Indonesia for only the second time ever. It’s been over 20 years (WAY too long!)” stated the legendary metal band on their official website, www.metallica.com, expressing their excitement to play again for all the ‘metal militia’ across thos huge archipelago.

Scheduled to take place in the largest performance venue in the country, the concert is set to be one of the biggest ever to be held in Indonesia. For the concert, the band will bring their own equipment and staging details with the total weight of 60 tons. The concert will also be supported with a powerful 200,000 watt sound system, and a number of giant LED screens to be placed in a number of corners of the stadium.

With their signature growly vocals and the chord strokes of James Hetfield, the explosive drum beats of Lars Ulrich, the slicing and sophisticated solos of Kirk Hammet, and the hard and heavy Bass tones of Rob Trujillo, Metallica truly defines what metal music is all about. As one of the pioneers of the genre, their music may be categorized as heavy metal, thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, or anything else, or all of them.

The band may have had its golden age in the 80’s and 90’s, but some of their works transcend times and have become eternal anthems of the metal world. With hits such as “Battery”, ”Sanitarium (Welcome Home)”, and “Master of Puppets”, their third released in 1983 album Master of Puppets was described by many music critics as one of the most influential and "heavy" thrash metal albums. Commercially, the band spread a worldwide metal wave in the early 1991 with their eponymous fifth album (also known as The Black Album), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold over 15.8 million copies in the United States alone. The “black” album also unleashed some of the most renowned Metallica hits such as “Nothing Else Matter”, “The Unforgiven”, and also the iconic “Enter sandman” which video clip was named as Best Metal Video in 1992’s MTV Video Music Award.

Metallica has released nine studio albums, four live albums, five extended plays, 25 music videos, and 37 singles. The band has won nine Grammy Awards, and five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard 200, making Metallica the first band to do so. Metallica ranks as one of the most commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

Metallica staged their first ever show in Indonesia on 10th April 1993 at the Lebak Bulus Stadium, Jakarta. Although the show ended in a rather unpleasant situation, the concert was regarded as a milestone in the history of Rock and Metal music in Indonesia. The historical concert was also captured and documented in Anthropologist Sam Dunn’s “Global Metal” documentary. Released in 2007, the documentary that dealt with the global spread of Metal also acknowledged Indonesia as a country where Metal music continues to flourish.

Blackrock Entertainment, as the promotor of the event has put special concern on safety and security issues ensuring that the 1993 incidents will not occur again. Tickets already on sale via online since 8th July 2013 ranging from IDR400,000 to IDR7,500,000.
